Elden Ring, like any good From Software game, features plenty of bosses for players to take on. Naturally, it also features a whole heap of optional bosses which, while completely skippable, can be taken on for the more daring of players to score some bonus loot. The first boss, and likely a powerful challenge for most of you, is the Tree Sentinel which is found immediately after the tutorial. Found wandering around outside, you may be wondering how this boss can be defeated if you’re just beginning. No need to worry as, in this guide, we’ll explain how to defeat the Tree Sentinel in Elden Ring!

How to Defeat the Tree Sentinel in Elden Ring

First things first, it’s important to note that this boss shouldn’t be taken on immediately after completing the tutorial. If you’re a fan of soulslike games and have been playing them for some time, then you might be able to handle the challenge. But for the rest of us, you’ll want to at least hold off until you get your horse. Even better, until you get yourself a ranged weapon of sorts. This will make the boss incredibly easier, as handling the boss by horseback from afar is better than dealing with it head-on while on foot. This is even more true given the fact that the Tree Sentinel is on horseback itself.

If you’re really wanting to beat this boss on foot, or just can’t make the horseback method work, then it’s at least suggested you go with a shield over simply trying to dodge roll your way to victory. Dark Souls fans may be inclined to do this, but due to its varied attack timings, learning the timings you need to roll correctly can be incredibly painful. But hey, if that’s your sort of thing, you do you. Either way, as long as you use one of these starts and continue to learn the boss’s attacks, the Tree Sentinel of Elden Ring should go down in no time.
