The Tibia Mariner is a recurring Field Boss in Elden Ring resembling a ferryman of the dead, capable of summoning skeletal minions to fight at its side. Tarnished adventurers can encounter this optional Field Boss four times throughout their journey in the Lands Between. The first can be found in the Summonwater Village of Limgrave, and the second is located near Carian Study Hall in Liurnia. Players will encounter a third in Wyndhan Ruins and a fourth northeast of the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook. Defeating the Tibia Mariners in Elden Ring will always reward adventurers with a unique item and a Deathroot, used for completing Gurranq’s Quest.

Defeating the Tibia Mariner in Elden Ring

To defeat the Tibia Mariner in Elden Ring, players will need to understand its general moveset and its regional variations differ. Still, one consistent weakness of this Field Boss is that it’s highly vulnerable to Holy Damage. Therefore, those struggling to beat it should use Holy-related Incantations or Holy Water Pots.

Elden Ring: How to Defeat Festering Fingerprint Vyke

Starting with the Tibia Mariner in Limgrave, players are recommended to stay atop their horse, chasing it as it teleports. If the skeletal soldiers are overwhelming, consider summoning the Lone Wolf Ashes to keep them distracted while dealing with the boss. Melee users should attack the ferryman from the side but back away whenever it attempts to dive-bomb down from the air. The Tibia Mariner in Liunia is almost identical to Limgrave’s, except it deals higher damage.

Defeating the Tibia Mariner of Altus Plateau’s Wyndhan Ruins in Elden Ring is slightly more tricky, as it can summon a massive skeleton. Luckily, the giant undead moves very slowly and can be easily avoided since it can’t turn 180 degrees. The strategy will be the same; use Torrent to chase down the Tibia Mariner while using Spirit Summons to distract its minions. Finally, the Tibia Mariner of Mountaintops of the Giants is extremely easy for ranged users since they can sit atop the southern ledge and snipe it from above. As for melee fighters, consider using Holy Damage since this variant has lots of HP. Additionally, keep in mind that it will summon undead crystal snails instead of a typical skeletal militia.

Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
