One of the many joys of playing Elden Ring is all the NPCs you will encounter all around the Lands Between. Many offer cool sidequests that can open up the lore and land you with better equipment and weapons. With Sorceress Sellen, her questline in Elden Ring can take some time to complete. We’ll help you every step of the way through.

How to Complete Sorceress Sellen’s Questline in Elden Ring

Sorceress Sellen is one of the first NPCs and Merchants you’ll meet in the game. You’ll find her in Limgrave inside the basement below the Waypoint Ruins. To reach her, head up the hill where you see a small army and two trolls tugging a carriage. If you don’t want to fight them, just ignore them and go up the hill.

When walking, keep an eye out for the aggressive flowers and the opening for the cellar. Before you can reach Sullen, you’ll fight a Mad Pumpkin Head Boss.

Once defeated, you can meet Sellen. Exhaust her dialogue until you get the chance to become her apprentice. From there, you can purchase sorceries from her and gain more dialogue.

Nothing else will happen with her questline yet, but there’s something important to note: Sellen is found in multiple places. In Elden Ring, you may see Sorceress Sellen also at the Witchbane Ruins. However, speaking to that one too early can cause you to mess up the entire questline for Sorceress Sellen, making you unable to complete it.

Instead, just continue on with the game after you become Sellen’s apprentice before you can reach the next stage in her story.

Sorceress Sellen’s Elden Ring Questline Part 2

Sorceress Sellen’s questline progresses once you get to Mt. Gelmir. It’s here where you have to find Sorcerer Azur who resides north of Liurnia of the Lakes.

To get there, you can either take the Grand Lift of Dectus or head through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice dungeon. Either way, you’ll get where you need to go.

From the Site of Grace that’s on Atlus Plateau, head up north to the Wyndham Ruins. There’s a Tibia Mariner boss fight here, but you can rush around the enemies if you don’t want to fight.

When inside Mt. Gelmir, keep going until you find the Seethewater Terminus Site of Grace. Head behind the fort and collection of enemies and you’ll see a shallow lava lake. It’s here that you’ll find a Magma Wyrm boss. Behind them is the Hermit Village.

There’s a boss further back in the village, but Sorcerer Azur is hidden behind the boss. Run to the Primeval Sorcerer Azur Site of Grace. If you rest there, the enemies in the village shouldn’t be as aggressive, freeing you to head over to Sorcerer Azur nearby and talk to him.

After speaking with him, you’ll receive Comet Azur.

Sorceress Sellen’s Questline Part 3

Next up in your Elden Ring sidequest is to show the Comet Azur to Sorcereress Sellen. Mentioning Sorcerer Azur to Sellen gives you more dialogue. She’ll ask you to locate one of her mentors and hand you the Sellian Sealbreaker key.

If you speak with her further, she’ll give you a lead: Sellia, Town of Sorcery.

You must get to the Sellia Hideaway. There’s an option to complete the Sellia, Town of Sorcery puzzle or opt to jump down the spirit spring. This sits west of Fort Faroth.

Behind an illusory wall is where you need to be. Deeper inside is a series of large crystals that form a walkway. Cross that until a mage that guards the tunnel attacks. Once the enemies are defeated, enter the tunnel to find Sorcerer Lusat’s remains and interact with him.

If you need help getting out of the dungeon, simply head back to where you dropped down from. Climb up the large crystals against the wall and make a sharp right, following the path back to the start of the bridge. From there, you can make your way back to the entrance.

Sorceress Sellen’s Questline Part 4

When you return to Sellen, mention Lusat. She’ll mention how Lusat’s and Azur’s bodies must return to the Academy. Additionally, you’ll learn that this isn’t the complete Sorceress Sellen in Elden Ring. If you never encountered her before at the Witchbane Ruins, now’s the time.

However, if you haven’t progressed further in the Ranni the Witch Questline and the Blaidd Questline, you must do so before you can continue with Sellen’s. You know you’re far enough when you defeat Starscourge Radahn.

If you have, then you can exhaust Sellen’s dialogue until she tells you to go to her body in Witchbane Ruins as the one you’re speaking to is a projection.

At Witchbane Ruins, you’ll see Sellen shackled to a wall. After speaking with her, she’ll give you the Primal Glintstone, her essence. We have a guide on how to use the Primal Glintstone to help you with this part.

Sorceress Sellen’s Elden Ring Questline Part 5

If you leave and return to Witchbane Ruins after restoring Sellen, she won’t be there. She mentioned going back to Raya Lucaria Academy, so it’s important that you have finished the legacy dungeon there.

With Sellen gone, travel back to Redmane Castle where you defeated Radahn. You’ll find witch hunter Jerren seated at a church alone. Exhaust his dialogue and rest at the Site of Grace nearby so that he’ll move.

Now, return to Witchbane Ruins to find Jerren. Be sure to completely exhaust his dialogue here to move Sorceress Sellen’s Elden Ring quest along.

Sorceress Sellen’s Questline Ending

Head to the Raya Lucaria Academy, as Sellen stated she’d be going there previously. Outside the entrance are 2 NPC summoning stones. It’s here that you’ll choose to side with either Sellen or Jerren.

Whoever you choose, you’ll team up with them to fight the other one in an invasion-style battle.

Defeating Jerren nets you the Eccentric Set. Exhausting the dialogue with Sellen to get the Glintstone Kris. Additionally, the Shard Spiral is added to her shop.

As you’ve already gotten Lusat’s and Azur’s bodies, you can reload the area and return to see Sellen transformed into a massive sorcerer orb. You’ll find the Witch’s Glintstone Crown nearby.

Afterward, return to Lusat’s and Azur’s bodies to find both of their armor sets.

Now, if you decide to defeat Sellen with Jerren instead, you’ll still get the Witch’s Glintstone Crown. However, you’ll also get Sellen’s Bell Bearing.

If you speak to Jerren, he’ll give you the Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Killing Jerren at this point will also get you that Eccentric Set. However, since you challenged Sellen in this route, you can’t get the sets for Azur and Lusat.
