In order to get the most out of this perilous and exciting optional zone in Mt. Gelmir, you will want to know where to go and how to get all the essential items. This guide will provide a walkthrough of everything you need to know about the Gelmir Hero’s Grave area in Elden Ring.

Before you begin your descent into Gelmir Hero’s Grave, you will want to know where to find this vault. The closest Site of Grace to your destination happens to be the First Mt. Gelmir Campsite Site of Grace. From this resting spot, head westward while hugging the left-hand side of the path. Along the way, there will be several Lyndell soldiers afflicted with Frenzied Flame feasting on corpses that hold minor items. Off to the right, a Lesser Mad Pumpkin Head enemy will be standing idle that can be easily avoided by just moving quickly up and over the boulders as you keep advancing left by the cliffside.

Keep moving left along the cliff to a small area with several trees and some wolf enemies surrounding a large ornate structure. This sizable edifice sitting right in front of you is the entrance to the Gelmir Hero’s Grave dungeon. Once inside, take the elevator down to enter the real dungeon area. You will have the chance to rest and prepare at the Gelmir Hero’s Grave Site of Grace before you continue your trek through this great and expansive keep.

Following the linear path ahead, the average-sized hallway will open up to a much larger one with high ceilings and magma on either side of the walkway. Be very careful as walking too far forward will activate the Chariot colossal enemy that will start chasing you up and down the hallways. The Chariot enemies are nigh impossible to dodge, so time your sprints down the main hallway and use the periodic alcoves that look like doorways on the sides. Along the way, you will encounter several skeletons that will either be camping within these alcoves or jumping out in an ambush while you head further downwards. The last alcove on the left before the main path ends will actually be the way to continue forward with the rest of the dungeon. While it may seem as if the path completes after the last alcove, if you have enough Crimson Flasks, you can make your way down through the magma and around the corner to obtain the Furled Finger Hammer unique weapon.

Moving ahead through the Gelmir Hero’s Grave, you will come across a large room with several enemies lying in wait for you. Take caution as there will be an agile enemy that uses a rapier and a crossbow called a Page lying in wait right around the corner on your left. There will be several Wandering Nobles, one wielding a torch, and another one of the Pages that you can take out in any way you see fit for those sweet, sweet runes. Since this is a dungeon area, do not forget to pick up the Glovewort growing that you can find to level up your ever-helpful Spirit Ashes. Up the stairs, you will find one more hostile Wandering Noble and yet another Page in front of a doorway seemingly spitting fire periodically. The fire coming through the next open hallway is from a Fire Pillar trap you may have already encountered in previous dungeons. Wait for the fire to start to die down before moving through the hallway, turn off quickly to either side as soon as possible to avoid being torched, and hit the pillar with any weapon in order to deactivate the trap.

The room on the right is simple and has a Golden Rune [6] for you to pick up. However, stay alert as two Page enemies are waiting behind some walls to get the jump on you. Back in the pillar room, keep moving on with the dungeon, and you will be met with yet another large, high ceiling hallway. Once again, a Chariot will be patrolling this section, so do not run out into the road without looking both ways, as you will get run down. Turning right and following the walkway up the slope will grant a Stonesword Key item waiting at the dead end. It is incredibly difficult to time the run back down to safety with the Chariot, so wait in safety on the back wall at the very top and run down right behind the colossal enemy when it turns around so you can roll back into the Pillar room hallway to give you a second to breathe.

Like the first Chariot hallway, time your sprints and use the alcoves to your advantage. There will be more skeleton enemies along the way, so take heed as to not get cornered while the Chariot roams up and down. There will be a portion of the walk where the floor narrows and drops off to two slim ridges, the one on the right having six Smoldering Butterflies you can pick up from a corpse hanging off of the edge. Take care jumping down, as being too hasty or too slow can cause you to overshoot or be knocked over by the Chariot, sending you tumbling into the magma below. If you were to keep ahead, you would find yet another small nook in the wall where a non-boss version of a Cemetary Shade will spawn behind a Grave Glovewort [7], and defeating it will net you the Mantis Blade.

If you turn into the small hallway, there will be a medium-sized room, holding an item guarded by a dangerous Bloodhound Knight. Taking out the Bloodhound Knight and picking up the item will reward with both the Bloodhound Knight and Gelmir Knight armor sets exclusive to Gelmir Hero’s Grave dungeon.

On the same wall as the door, a ladder there will bring you up to a small loft area. You will be able to pick up five Root Resin items on the right side behind the breakable pots. Jump through the windows and walk on the wooden beams that will be very high above the ground. Standing there for a moment will summon the Chariot to start moving up and down the hall. Stay on the high wooden beams until the Chariot enemy is right below you. Careful not to be too hasty, as missing the jump could spell a quick death. It is best to wait in the center of where the beams cross until the chariot turns around for you to walk forward and drop onto the back of the Chariot.

If you successfully manage to land on it safely, the Chariot will chauffeur you down the lava safely at a very brisk pace. Once at the bottom, your very own stone taxi will begin to turn around once more to head back up. At this moment, roll off behind it or jump towards the wall on the right side, and you will see an opening with a ladder taking you up. Ascend the ladder to be greeted by an elaborately decorated door, which will give way to the final walk before the main boss of the dungeon. You’re now in the home stretch of the Gelmir Hero’s Grave walkthrough.
