Elden Ring is making an appearance at next month’s Taipei game show. That’s the good news.

The bad news is the odds we’re going to see anything new while it’s there are extremely low. The internet got revved up on Monday when Sony unveiled its lineup for TGS.

Running from February 6-9th, there are going to be plenty of PS4 exclusives on hand. The Final Fantasy VII remake, The Last of Us 2, and Nioh 2 will all make some kind of appearance.

Marvel’s Avengers and Persona 5 Royal Edition will be there as well. The catch is just what kind of presence any or all of those games will have.

On the official TGS exhibition page, there are a set of icons that need everyone’s attention. While Sony hasn’t said specifically how their lineup will be presented, it appears it is giving a heads up on what will be there as a trailer and what will be playable.

Of the big names on the page, only Elden Ring and TLOU2 won’t have some sort of playable content. Analyst Daniel Ahmad took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to warn people TGS is likely going to be sporting a redubbed version of videos we’ve already seen for Elden Ring. It stands to reason it’s the same story for The Last of Us 2.A

To be honest, I would expect the latter more than the former.

Probably just a Chinese sub version of the E3 trailer.

But who knows, could be more to it.

Unfortunately, the lack of a playable demo for Elden Ring could portend even more bad news. Recent rumors about the game claimed the Dark Souls successor is releasing this June.

If the title was ready to hit store shelves in just a few months, it stands to reason there’d be something playable available by now. The chance that we may not even see a new trailer is an even worse sign of an imminent release.

Of course, it’s possible Ahmad is wrong and this will be a new trailer. We’ll find out soon if Sony is about to offer another look at Elden Ring or more of the same.
