Formed by the Rune of Death’s curse on Godwyn’s corpse, Deathroot is a plant in Elden Ring highly sought after by the Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman of the Bestial Sanctum in Caelid. Accordingly, Tarnished must collect this root to feed Gurranq and progress his questline. Every time the player delivers a Deathroot to the Beast Clergyman, they will be rewarded with a Beast-related Incantation, Armament, or Ash of War. Finding Every Deathroot In Elden Ring
Keep in mind that Deathroot locations in Elden Ring can be visited in any order and can be turned in to Gurranq at any time. The first Deathroot that Tarnished will likely come across will be in Deathtouched Catacombs, a Dungeon in northern Limgrave, west of Saintsbridge.

After defeating the Black Knife Assassin of Deathtouched Catacombs in Limgrave, Tarnished adventurers will receive their first Deathroot. They can discover the second Deathroot slightly to the east of Deathtouched Catacombs at Summonwater Village. A low-level Tibia Mariner will spawn here, summoning their skeletal minions to assault the player. Nevertheless, once defeated, the Field Boss will drop a Deathroot.
The third Deathroot location in Elden Ring is a small unnamed swamp southwest of Carian Study Hall in Liurnia. Players must defeat another Tibia Mariner to acquire the root. The fourth root can also be found in Liurna, specifically in Black Knife Catacombs to the north. However, this time the item is somewhat elusive since it is only accessible by slaying the secret boss of Black Knife Catacombs, an elite Black Knife Assassin. Similar to the Black Knife Catacombs, the root is acquired by defeating the Dungeon’s hidden boss, a Stray Mimic Tear.
