Eddie Murphy Pulled an unexpected Joke at the 2023 Golden Globes
Eddie Murphy at Golden Globes received the Cecil B. DeMille Award. For his attendance at the Tuesday night event, the “Norbit” star looked dapper in an all-black ensemble, accessorizing with shining jewelry. Expectedly, all the attendees dressed to kill, but somehow, Murphy caught the attention of the voluminous numbers in the ceremony following his joke.
To receive the award, the actor stepped on stage and thanked his family and longtime beau, Paige Butcher. Then he explained his desire to share his recipe for a successful career and lifestyle with the audience. Murphy blurted:
Murphy’s Golden Globes joke brings to mind last year’s Oscars. Its host, Chris Rock, threw jibes at Jada Pinkett, Will Smith’s wife, who suffers from alopecia. While the audience roared with laughter, the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actor moved to the stage and decked Rock with a slap before warning him never to mention his wife’s name.
This stirred mixed reactions from celebrities and fans. On the other hand, Will later apologized to Rock after a ten-year ban from the ceremony.
