Series creator Ed Boon has apparently teased a possible E3 2018 announced for a new game in the Mortal Kombat franchise. The teaser was very subtle but quite clear for the fans of the fighting game.

A follower asked him on Twitter whether he was planning more content for Injustice 2, specifically a Pack 4, to be released during this year. He answered that there could be something “kool” on the way, even cooler than that.

“You know what ELSE would be kool…..?,” Boon asked his follower in response, which is a sort of invitation to stop thinking about the latest entry in the Injustice series and start anticipated something different.

Publisher Warner Bros. has only one announced title for E3 2018, and NetherRealm Studios – which is owned by the publisher – has already shown in the past that it has a two-year development cycle for its fighting games.

Mortal Kombat 9 was released in 2011, Injustice then came out for the first time in 2013, Mortal Kombat X launched in 2015, followed two years later by Injustice 2 (2017). So a 2019 release would be fitting this timeline for a new MK title.
