Ed Boon, one of the founders and creators behind the Mortal Kombat franchise, continues to troll his fans by hinting at the next piece of content coming to the game. Right now, he’s been going back and forth with fans with several of his hints pushing the envelope of Mortal Kombat 11 introducing that Joker as the next DLC character.

The earliest hints came from Boon’s Twitter account when he tweeted on June 20.

For those unfamiliar, those lyrics are to a song by the Steve Miller Band, called The Joker. Boon’s tweet is not a direct quote of the song, but it’s close enough for many people to locate the reference if they dug deep enough.

Some people call me the Cowboy…

Many people are placing their bets on the Joker arriving in Mortal Kombat 11, given that there was a massive leak of DLC characters coming to the game right before the title launched earlier this year in April.

The leak detailed adding characters Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, the Terminator, Sindel, Spawn, Ash from the Evil Dead series, Sheeva, and Fujin. The Joker was also one of the leaked characters. So far, Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Spawn, and Sindel have all turned out to be accurate, justifying the leak’s information thus far.

Additional support for Mortal Kombat 11 adding the Joker comes from other tweets from the game’s development team.

As of this writing, none of the team have confirmed who the last two DLC characters in Mortal Kombat 11’s first Kombat Pack are going to be. We’ll have to wait for additional details to come out.
